Masculine listeners tend to listen for patterns, tend to listen for the big picture, direct their listening efforts toward a goal, listen to solve a problem, focus on the bottom line, and see the purpose of listening as to receive facts. Feminine listeners tend to be more empathic and subjective, look for relationships among pieces of information, and rely more upon meaning communicated through nonverbal behavior.
