Hi,

I was wondering how the immune system reacts and memorizes foreign(harmful) substances that get into the body when say hypothetically the body does not have any B cells or T cells that have the specific antigen binding region for their antibody. I know that B cells undergo recombination, but what if none of their recombination allows for the antibody for this new antigen.  I also know that the B cells produces one antibody, but there are many different clones of B cells.

I think in such a scenario, the body would not be able to recognize the foreign substance and would die.
