The vestigial nictitating membrane in humans is the small pink area in the central corners of the eyes. I noticed that this was a common answer to questions like mine, so I thought I should establish that I already know that.

Now what I wonder is, can whatever remains of the nictitating membrane be trained or conditioned to the point that it could be closed over the eye again? If this question cannot be answered, could somebody provide me with an accurate map of the muscles and tendons surrounding the eye, so that I could have a better idea of which muscle I'm trying to move?
