Your driver's license indicates that you must wear glasses when you drive. You do not need glasses to see objects that are close. What type of lenses do your eyeglasses likely have? How do they work?

2.   Your grandmother develops a cataract in one eye and gets a vision test. Her test result for that eye is reported as 20/400. What does this mean? Is a rating of 20/20 better or worse?

If you are nearsighted, you have trouble seeing things that are far away. To correct this, you need concave shaped lens (diverging lens, I think).

That is considered severe visual impairment, or severe low vision. 20/20 is better.
