The average human chromosome contains about 130Mb of DNA. What is the approximate length of such a DNA molecule in micrometers? (There are 10^-4 micrometers per angstrom unit.)

Mb = mega base pairs = 1,000,000 bp

130 * 1,000,000 = 130, 000, 000 bp

- Size of AT or GC base pair = 1.085nm
- Width of DNA molecule = 2.3nm approx.
- 10 base pairs /turn of DNA helix = 34nm (=10 nucleotides /chain)
- Size of 1 nucleotide = 0.34nm.

multimple 130, 000, 000 by 1.085nm.
