Analyzing Your Skills and Experience For this exercise, you will conduct your own Appreciative Inquiry analysis based upon your academic, co-curricular, and life experiences. Try to answer these questions in about 20 minutes. Do not over analyze your answers; simply go with your first response. Appreciative Inquiry focuses your attention on what you do well and asks you to envision how you do more of that.  It consists of the four Ds:  Discovery (learning what you do well), Dreaming (envisioning what might be), Designing (what is your ideal future), and Delivering (putting things into action to get there). Discover:  Describe a time when you felt most happy with what you were doing at work or in school. Organizing Events in my senior year in high school. I loved organizing events such as soccer tournaments, fund raisers and more. Recall a peak work or learning experience when you felt most alive, most involved or most excited about what you were doing.  What was it about that experience that made you so alive? When I spent a summer working at my father’s firm. I remember walking into his big white office and feeling so alive. I wanted that to be my future, not only running an entire business but making a difference as well. I think the power that comes with it is what I desire the most. The power to create change and build a legacy. What aspects do you value most deeply about yourself, the nature of your work or learning, and the work or learning environment? I value my competitiveness above everything else. I strive for greatness and I want my name to be known. The nature of my work is one which gets everything down efficiently. My willpower is very powerful; Therefore, when I being a task I don’t take a break till its over. I want to surround myself in a working environment as much as I can. As I mentioned in my father’s company before, I loved the seriousness and the efficiency of everything. Dream:  What three themes can you see in the first three answers you just gave? Significance, competition and aspiration. Describe your best, most realistic future in ten years. Working under the supervision of my father and enhancing my work experience in management. As well as understanding the scope of the process and being equipped with the necessary tools to run a business. All this can help me one day create my own business that will make a difference. What is your ideal balance between your work life and your personal life? Having the privilege of being my own boss, I can spend as much time with my family as I wish. Unlike working in large corporate firms, I can dictate whatever balance I want. I want a job where I socialize with my employees, clients and coworkers. I wouldn’t have to worry about working overtime or sitting behind a desk all day. Design:  What opportunities can you take advantage of while you're in college? Career fairs, clubs and organizations, the highly rated academic knowledge I can gain, and the ability to grow as a person. Is there some new technology, trend or idea you'd like to keep up with? Renewable Energy. One of the fields that interest me most. Id like to find a way to create clean, renewable energy and build my own company behind it. It will create a better world and better future. What are others doing that you'd like to do? I am contempt with where I stand in life and work every day to reach my goal. I do not compare my standing to others. I just want to better myself and maximize my potential to ultimately fulfill my objective. Deliver:  How will you sustain your vision that you can achieve your desired future? Many factors play a role in achieving this future. Firstly, hard work is important but smart work is even better. I like to work efficiently and find ways that minimize costs and maximize benefit. Secondly, motivation and determination. Two crucial aspects that equip me with the desire to reach my destination. Thirdly, creating connections and developing strong relationships. This is a pivotal part of business and must be done from as early as high school. List 3 "WILL DO" goals you will achieve to realize your dream. I will work everyday to realize my dream. I will make my father proud one day. I will make a difference in the world and my name will be remembered. What 3 possible bumps in the road may you face in building on your strengths? I may lose the discipline needed to commit to my cause. I may misinterpret the future needs of society by overanalyzing the market, I may lose track of the balance between my social and personal lives.
