Unit 1 discussion board 2 Part A Liberty is having the freedom to do as you want without authority imposed restrictions. Equality is having equal rights, and opportunities without discrimination. Democracy is a system of government where the citizens rule whether it be directly or by an appointed representative. In my opinion, liberty is having the opportunity to practice my own free will according to my wish to live life the way I want. Quickly stated, to satisfy me, as long as it doesn’t bring harm to others. Equality, to me, is being acknowledged for just being me. It means being given respect for being a human. Equality is being judged on my excellence, and not by sexual characteristics. It’s being allowed an opportunity to display my capabilities instead of an opinion being formed based on my ethnicity, my gender, or how I look. Part B As claimed by Wikipedia, Political Science is a social science which deals with systems of governance, and the analysis of political activities, political thoughts, and political behavior. I favor this definition because it’s concise. Another reason this particular definition interested me is because it describes, in my opinion, the best part of political science. Which is the practice of politics. This is usually noted as the influencing factor of the issuance of power and different assets. The founder I chose is Chico Mendes. Chico Mendes was a courageous and inspirational land rights leader. He developed the very first conservation initiative for tropical forest that was pushed forward by the people of the forest themselves. Through his work, Chico was able to establish Brazil’s extractive reserves for inhabited forest areas overseen by the locals of the communities. Partners with Mendes included were members of a small, dismissed group of minorities in the 80s. By the end of that decade, because of their determination, they were led to power in some of Brazil’s Amazon. In 1988, because of his efforts to help the unjust, Medes was tragically gunned down. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_science
