The relationship between the Golgi complex and lysosomes. Digestive enzymes are synthesized on ribosomes attached to the ER, internalized, and moved to the Golgi in transport vesicles. In the Golgi, the enzymes are modified and packaged. Lysosomes pinch off the ends of the Golgi membrane. In the cytoplasm, lysosomes fuse with and digest the contents of vesicles that are internalized at the plasma membrane.
