To critique a study, one must:
 
  a. be an experienced researcher and thoroughly understand the research process.
  b. be doctorally prepared and received a certificate to critique.
  c. have received some education regarding research and the research process.
  d. hold a master's degree and have conducted at least one study.

It is not necessary to have an advanced degree or vast clinical experience to accurately critique a study. The only things required are knowledge of the research process and the ability to critically think.
