A patient who has been taking methyldopa (Aldomet) for his hypertension presents to the emergency department with a severe headache, blurred vision, and a blood pressure of 200/94 mm Hg. The nurse would suspect:
1.   hyperglycemia.
2.   ineffective coping with sedation.
3.   abrupt cessation of medication.
4.   sexual dysfunction.

Abruptly stopping antihypertensive medications can result in a hypertensive crisis, and the patient will present with rebound hypertension and reports of confusion, nausea, restlessness, and headache and vision abnormalities.
