31 cm

Rationale: The circumference of the newborns head is approximately 2 cm greater than the circumference of the newborns chest at birth. First determine the infants head circumference in cm by multiplying 13 inches by 2.54 cm or 13 x 2.54 = 33.02 or 33 cm. If the chest circumference is 2 cm smaller than the head circumference the nurse should expect to measure the infants chest to be 31 cm.
