When the secretion product of a cell appears as droplets, vacuoles or grain-like, it is called a "secretory grain". Secretory vesicles are the intracellular reservoirs that are produced from the Golgi apparatus. Secretory vesicles containing proteins, for examples, that are destined to be released are transported to sites of release via microtubules in the cytoplasm.
