a. A racemic mixture has no optical rotation due to the equal amounts of the two enantiomers cancelling each other out.
b. The necessary condition for an object to be chiral is that it has a carbon which carries four different groups.
c. Enantiomers are objects which are non identical mirror images.
d. Enantiomeric molecules differ from one another in the direction which they rotate the plane of polarised light.
e. 2-bromopentane is a chiral molecule.
