what happens to the stereochemisty of an alkyne when sodium ammonium is added?

especifically, does it break the triple bond? does the two sides have a cis or trans configuration?

Sodium dissolved in ammonia will reduce alkynes. The stereochemistry is opposite to that of the Lindlar catalyst, which is to say that a trans stereoisomer is obtained, where the Lindlar generates cis.
