This was our lab activity and I need to know what happens when hot ferric chloride solution is added to dilute ammonium hydroxide. I know that layers would form, but what are this layers? Thank you! It would help a lot.

FeCl3 +3NH4OH ---->Fe(OH)3 +3NH4Cl
Fe(OH)3 will be participated and the layer you see is  Fe(OH)3.
