Convert the following into a balanced equation (include states of the reactant and product:

a) Liquid disilicon hexachloride reacts with water to form solid silicon dioxide, hydrogen chloride gas, and hydrogen gas.

b) When nitrogen dioxide is bubbled into water, a solution of nitric acid forms and gaseous nitrogen monoxide is released.

You have convert all of the different compounds into the abbreviations on the periodic table and add the subscripts and it will be so much easier. After you do that, it's like math. You can cancel out repeated equations and add and subtract whatever is left to get your answer.
