You discover a new variety of plant with color varities of purple and white. When you intercross these,  the F1 is a lighter purple. You consider that this may be an example of blending and self-cross the F1. If Mendel is correct, what would you predict for the F2?

How would I set up the monohybrid cross? thank you. Slight Smile

So here, the plants are showing co-dominance. For instance, if you have HH, you are purple, if you have Hh, then you are light purple, if you have hh, then you are white.

So if the parents are: Ff X Ff

      F    f

F   FF   Ff

f    Ff   ff

So 1 would be purple, two would be light purple, and one would be white.

So, if we take Ff and cross it to the Ff (the parent), we should get:

     F    f

F   FF   Ff

f    Ff   ff

Essentially the same thing.
