Mentally competent clients have the right to refuse treatment. This includes life-saving hydration and nutrition.
Passive euthanasia is illegal in all provinces. (Manitoba is the only province that has a statutory definition of death.)
In Canada, euthanasia is illegal. According to section 241 of the Criminal Code (1985), it is an offence to aid a person to commit suicide, whether suicide ensues or not.
It is not mandatory to seek organ donation even if it will save a recipient's life.
