In proteins, the polymer is called a peptide. This peptide is made up of amino acids. Multiple peptides make a polypeptide.

In carbohydrates, the polymer is called a polysaccharide. It is made up of monosaccharides, like glucose.

In order to make polymers in both structures, a condensation reaction must take place where a single water molecule is released.
