i followed every step . I later founf out that i have been using the micropipette wrong the whole time. Could this have anything to do with getting too numerous to count results?

I don't think so. If the concentrations are done correctly through your dilution technique, then it doesn't matter if you scoop up 1 ml vs. 5 ml., the concentration per ml would be the same. But if you were using your micropipette incorrectly at the stage when you were diluting, then absolutely.
