Humans breathe in O2 and breathe out CO2.  Are the oxygen atoms in CO2 the same atoms that were acquired during inhalation of O2?  Briefly explain

No they're not. The entire CO2 molecule comes from glucose and they are released during the TCA cycle. The oxygen inspired is used during the electron transport chain and is converted to water.
