A healthy adult asks the nurse, What can I be doing on a daily basis to reduce my risk of developing Alzheimer's disease? The nurse should respond, It is not definitively known what actually causes the disease, but it may help to:

  1. drink five servings of alcohol daily.
  2. eat foods rich in folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12.
  3. take megadoses of vitamin C.
  4. fast for 2 days every other week.
