A 26 year old woman presents to your clinic during a spontaneous abortion from which she recovers uneventfully.  She and her 29 year old husband have been trying to have a child for the last 3 years, during which time the woman has had 5 spontaneous abortions.  The karyotype of the aborted fetus contained 46 chromosomes, and all pairs were normal except for the pairs shown below.

A.   The event which leads to the child’s abnormal karyotype was?  Justify your answer.  (4 points)

1)  adjacent I segregation
2)  adjacent II segregation
3)  alternate segregation
4)  a single recombination event within a pericentric inversion
5)  a single recombination event within a paracentric inversion

B.   What type(s) of chromosomal analysis would you perform on the parents and the child?  Justify the analysis or analyses you have selected.

I know the answer to A, just need B.

That answers A, which he already says he has the answer to. He needs an answer to B.
