During phonation:
 
  a. the speaker creates an increase in the air pressure below the vocal folds, which exerts
   a force on the open vocal folds
   b. the speaker increases the air pressure below the vocal folds, in order to increase the
   pressure against the trachea
   c. the Bernoulli effect takes place when the vocal folds are still adducted
   d. the vocal folds are pushed apart by increases in pressure generated by the lungs
   e. the vocal folds begin to close as the air pressure between the vocal folds begins to
   increase due to changes in air pressure in the middle ear
