Is it possible to replace the Car ignition key by electronic panel on/off touch screen buttons with a password (if required)?

If the driver inputs the correct password then only the automobile will start. The driver will again touch on the touchscreen off switch button to stop the automobile.

Do you feel this system is feasible to be implemented and useful?
