Glycolytic enzymes are regulated. The regulatory enzymes of glycolysis are:

o hexokinase
o 6-phosphofructo-1-kinase (PFK1; committed step)
o pyruvatekinase

These enzymes are regulated by small-molecular weight regulators (allosteric regulation) and by hormones on the genetic level (enzyme synthesis).

Glucagon regulates glycolysis, by decreasing synthesis of PFK-1. This means that glycolysis operates at a lower rate under the influence of glucagon.
