Two-year old Kim has gone home from the hospital in a spica cast after surgery to correct her hip dysplasia. Her caregiver calls 2 days later to say that Kim has been vomiting after eating. She has no fever.

Which of the following statements would be appropriate for the nurse to say to the caregiver?
  A) If Kim develops a fever or if she isn't able to hold anything down over the next 24 hours, she should come back to the hospital.
  B) The vomiting is a possible sign of infection and Kim should be brought back in.
  C) Kim may be reacting to the analgesics she was given. Observe Kim for the next 8 hours and see what happens.
  D) If Kim has no fever and wants to eat, the cast may be too tight; she should be brought back in for recasting.
