Online learning is more flexible and convenient because in asynchronous courses, you don't need to be in class at specific time. This can also be a con because it might be easy to forget about the online class because it isn't part of your weekly schedule. Because all materials are typically posted online, you can review materials as often as needed. This can be a helpful strategy when learning new content. A con is that technology problems may occur and this can be quite stressful if an issue arises during an exam or other high stakes assignment. While connecting to classmates is obviously different in an online class, it may be easier to get to know more of your classmates since everyone is sharing ideas in online discussion forums. These conversations also tend to promote higher level critical thinking skills. Some students who take online courses do miss the in person lectures and connections with others though.
