A Mammalian cell (permeable to Na+, K+, Cl-, with the usual distribution of ions) has
the following values for ionic equilibrium potentials: ENa=+60 mV, EK = -80 mV and
Ec1 = -85 mV.
What is the initial direction of movement of each ion (i.e. from outside
to inside or vice versa) if the membrane potential is suddenly shifted (this can be done experimentally by injecting current in the appropriate direction) to (a) -80 mV, (b) -90mV and ("c ' ) +70mV? If this cell has a steady state resting potential of -75
