In 2012, a 17-year-old Scout named Ryan Andresen completed all his requirements for
Eagle Scout, the highest award in scouting. For his final project, he built a Tolerance
Wall with elementary school children with the goal of combating the bullying he had
  endured in school.

Ryan's scoutmaster refused to approve his Eagle Scout application
because he was openly gay. Many scouts around the country have returned their merit
badges in protest. His mother said to NBC News that the Scoutmaster is sending Ryan
the message that he's not a valued human being and I want Ryan to know that he is
valued. Do you believe the scoutmaster was justified in refusing to award the Eagle
Scout award to Ryan? If you believe he was not justified, what reasons can you develop
in support of your argument? If you believe he was justified, what reasons can you
develop to tell Ryan and his mother?
