Why is it that women are more apt to prevent rape when being sexually assaulted by a stranger than by someone they know?

  a. When a woman is sexually assaulted by someone she knows, there is more of a sense of disbelief, causing a delay in her to reaction to the assault.
  b. When a woman is sexually assaulted by someone she knows, she is usually in a more relaxed state and it takes longer for her adrenaline to kick in than if she had encountered a stranger.
  c. Women are taught that strangers are potential rapists, not friends or family, so when attacked, they often psychologically deny that a friend or acquaintance is sexually assaulting them and are less likely to fight back.
  d. Women tend to be less worried about hurting a stranger's feelings than the feelings of someone she knows.
