If the liquid has a soluble, non-volatile impurity, the boiling point of the solution will be higher than that of the pure liquid. The temperature within the reflux ring where the vapor and condensing liquid are in equilibrium is an accurate measure of the boiling point of the pure liquid if the impurity is non-volatile
