I have 100 tiles in my bag. 70 of these tiles are square in shape and the rest are
triangular in shape. 20 of these tiles are red and the rest are blue. So I hope you can agree that there
are four different types of tiles in the bag.

If the events “red/blue” and “square/triangle” are independent of each other, then draw a diagram
(either Venn Diagram or 2-by-2 table is a good idea) showing how may tiles there are of each different type.

Suppose the shape and colour distributions are not independent. Draw another diagram with these
numbers that also fit the criteria above.
