The result will be a change in the number of complete set of chromosomes. If the individual is a diploid organism, and cytokinesis fails to occurs at meiosis I, half the gametes will have no sets of chromosomes and half will have two sets of chromosomes. If cytokinesis fails at meiosis II, half the gametes will have one set of chromosomes (normal condition), one-fourth of them will have two sets, and one-fourth of them will have no sets.
