The Question is
Assign symbols to the alleles and draw a genetic cross diagram to indicate the genotype and phenotype of the possible offspring that would result from a male carrier of the disease (sickle-cell) mating with a female who is not a carrier.

Sickle-cellIn sickle-cell disease abnormal haemoglobin is produced which causes red blood cells to become distorted into a sickle (or crescent) shape, interfering with blood flow and the transport of oxygen throughout the body. Sickle-cell disease follows a pattern of autosomal recessive inheritance. The DNA mutation that causes the disease is found on chromosome 11.

After reading through my texts I am still really stryggling with this question would anyone be able to show me how I am ment to do this?

any help would be most welcome

You need to be homozygous recessive to have (rr) to have the disease.

A carrier has one bad gene, so to say (r) and one good gene (R)

Female, who is not a carrier has two good genes (RR).

So:

     r   R
R Rr RR
R Rr RR

Therefore, all the kids will be normal, but two of them will be carriers.
