Room service is a department that provides in-room meal service to hotel guests. Guests may call this department to order food items from menus that are left in the hotel room. The room service staff takes the guest order, and then gives the request to the restaurant for preparation.

The kitchen of one of the casino restaurants typically prepares the food. The room service staff places the prepared food on a tray, adds any beverages that were ordered, and then adds the necessary items such as silverware, salt and paper shakers, napkins, etc. A member of the room service staff then delivers the tray to the guest room. Guests may charge the meal to their hotel account by signing the bill when the food is delivered to the room, or they may elect to pay the delivery person immediately. The bill (and any payment) is returned to the room service cashier for processing.

As the room service tray and dishes are not materials that are serviced by the housekeeping department, the room service staff must return to retrieve the tray and used dishes. If left in the room, the housekeeper cleaning the room places the tray in the hall and alerts the room service department to come retrieve it. In order to retrieve trays left in hallways by guests, the room service staff makes regular patrols of hallways during slow periods, looking for these trays. The security department may also inform the room service staff of trays it spots while patrolling the hotel corridors.

Security helps the casino hotel protect its assets and the people who sleep in the rooms and work in the facility. The security staff patrols the hotel on a regular basis by walking through the public areas, the hotel corridors and through the back-of-the house production areas. This helps the guests feel safe. The security staff keeps a watchful eye on hotel property. They help keep out unwanted visitors who might otherwise disturb the guests or hotel employees. Similar to the casino surveillance team, the security department makes good use of cameras and monitors to observe the public areas of the casino hotel as well as the back of the house' areas where supplies and other hotel operations are underway. The cameras are never used to view into a hotel room. This combination of regular walking patrols around the hotel property and the use of cameras helps this department keep an up-to-date perspective of the safety and security of the guests, employees and hotel property.
