most significant natural selection factor that contributes to evolutionary adaptation is
a. a large population that limits emmigration

b. favorable variations are passed to the next generation during reproduction

c. the assortment of alleles during meiosis to form gametes

d. organisms must compete with each other for food and space

I know it isn't c because whole chromosomes assort, not individual alleles.

it can't be (a) and (d).

I like (b) and I like (c), just concerned with (c) because it mentions alleles, whereas natural selection has to do more with what nature finds favourable. Both however, could arguably be the answer.

Your choice.

Answer should be B.

Reasons being:
a) limiting the amount of emmigration is not a significant factor in evolutionary adaptation
b) This makes sense, as favourable traits are passed down
c) Whole chromosomes assort, not individual alleles.
d) This is a physical adaptation.

yes, the answer should be B, because favourable traits are passed down.
