Answer to #1

Social constructivism focuses on the role of culture and social interaction in the process of meaningful learning. According to this view, meaningful learning occurs when people are explicitly taught how to use the psychological tools of their culture and are then given the chance to use these tools to foster individual and/or shared understanding. Table 9.1 summarizes the characteristics and instructional implications of social constructivism.

Answer to #2

Although disappointed, the researcher has to accept what the data show. Perhaps previous research has been wrong and the researcher is right. Evidently, the question is not settled and further research is needed. The researcher could use the discussions section of the paper to reconsider the theory behind the study.
