Disadvantages:

a) The production of ammonia using the Haber process involves the combustion of fossil fuels. On burning these fuels, carbon (IV) oxide is produced which, in turn, contributes to the effects of global warming.

b) Nitrogen oxides produced during the process also pollutes the environments and the overuse of ammonium fertilizers causes eutrophication pollution.

Advantages:

The Haber process is the most important method for production of ammonia. Scientists can produce fertilixers to increase crop output and increase its capacity to feed its population.
