Suggested Responses: Students should argue that adults should speak to babies since they process and understand language earlier than they can actually speak it. Evidence should be presented that babies process language in a distinct part of the brain and that they can distinguish consonants, vowels, and intonations. They come to understand words very early and show this by smiling, pointing, or gesturing.
