Topic: Working with Punnet Squares/Genetic Crosses
Q; The allele for long wings is dominant to the allele for curly wings in fruit flies. Predict the genotypes and phenotypes of the offspring resulting from a cross between two fruit flies heterozygous for wing shape.
I have some difficulties with punnet squares, can you go over each step? Thank you.

R r is heterozygous

---R  r
R  RR  Rr
r    Rr   rr

So the phenotype will be 3 long wing and 1 short
The genotypes are 1:2:1 -- RR: Rr: rr

do you mind showing that through a sketch, like a punnet square form? its a lot easier to understand.

The 2 Rr above the punnet square represents the 2 parents that are heterozygous? and the phenotype ratio would be 3:1?

Yes, the phenotype is 3 to 1.

The parents are written in blue, offspring are in red
