A nurse discovers that the tube delivering a client's gastric feeding is disconnected and leaking on the bed. The patient is receiving a continuous insulin infusion, and the last blood glucose, done one hour ago, was 150 mg/dL. What should be the nurse's priority intervention?
1. Report the finding to the primary care provider.
2. Check the gastric tube for occlusion.
3. Do a finger-stick blood glucose.
4. Provide hygiene care, a clean gown, and dry sheets.
