Why did cognitive dissonance cause participants to shift their attitudes to become more favorable toward the boring tasks?

▸ $20 was a reward that made the tasks more enjoyable.

▸ $1 was not enough motivation to lie, so participants justified the lying by believing the lies.

▸ Very few people would change their attitudes for only a dollar.

▸ $20 (when this study was conducted) was a lot of money, so participants were more than willing to say they had changed their attitudes.
