I thought it were the shorter wavelengths can penetrate the skin. Where are you getting your information from?

True, it must be because skin contains pigmentation that prevents this sort of penetration.

The three main constituents of skin that absorb light are water, melanin and blood. Each of these constituents has different absorption coefficients, which, in plain English, means they react differently when subjected to different wavelengths of light.

as in relating to melanin absorption?? I still don't get it Confounded Face Crying Face and what is the a-b triangle off the melanin curve representing..??
