Osmosis is the net flow of solvent molecules through a semipermeable membrane from a solution of lower concentration to a solution of higher concentration.

In reverse osmosis, the solvent molecules are flow from a solution of higher concentration to a solution of lower concentration.

1. 4.2 M HNO3 to 2.4 M HNO3 :

In this, the solvent molecules flow from 4.2 M solution (higher concentration) to 2.4 M solution (lower concentration).

Hence, the process is a reverse osmosis.
