A) by binding at the active site of the enzyme
B) by changing the shape of a reactant
C) by changing the free energy change of the reaction
D) by acting as a coenzyme for the reaction
E) by decreasing the activation energy of the reaction

Alright, I know that the answer is B, because I have the answers to this set of questions. But I always thought a noncompetitive inhibitor changed the enzyme, not the reactant? Could someone explain this?

You are correct. B is the best answer in saying that it changes shape but a noncompetitive inhibitor does change the shape of an enzyme, but not by binding to its active site but elsewhere on the enzyme.

Good for you for figuring that out. You should tell your teacher about the mistake.
