i am currently attending a medical school in the caribbeans  n i was wondering if i barely passed my step 1 like with a 78 or 79 would i still get residency in any primary spots?

Residency?  Don't you have to do your clinical rotations first?  The prime spots usually go to those with the highest marks, but at the end of the study, if you pass, you will all be doctors.  No one EVER asks where their doctor placed in the class.
