1. Try to be specific rather than general about how you feel.
2. When expressing anger or irritation, describe the specific behavior you don't like, then your feelings.
3. If you have mixed feelings, say so; express and explain each feeling.
4. Use "I" messages, rather than "you" statements that can cast blame or imply fault.
5. Avoid judgmental statements.
6. Avoid lecturing or projecting superiority.
7. Don't ask for feedback unless you want an honest answer.
