A rectangular box has sides with lengths x, x+1, and x+2. If the volume of the box is 504 cubic inches, find the dimensions of the box.
How are you getting the 7?
And if the other two roots are complex, how are you getting the 8 and 9?

V = lwh = x(x+1)(x+2) = 504
x³ + 3x² + 2x - 504 = 0
(x - 7)(x² + 10x + 72) = 0
x = 7 (other two roots are complex)

So the box is 7 x 8 x 9 inches

you should also remember the fact that complex roots occur in pairs always, so either it is two complex roots, or none
the wordings of the question cleared that this is a unique rectangle and since it says " a rectangular box", so that was bound to happen, only one real root and other roots to be complex
