Most scientists do not consider viruses to be alive because

A)  they infect a host cell.
B)  they are unable to reproduce on their own.
C) they have no genes.
D) no definite structural features are seen under the microscope.
E) All of these.

I am thinking A, but not sure?

B. While they do infect host cells, they only do it to reproduce.  C is wrong because they do have genes (RNA), and D is wrong because viruses can be seen under a microscope, just not your average bio lab scope.

It is B. They do infect host cells, like other living organisms do, they do have genes, they have definite structural features.
